fetching lost, fetching finished

On Thursday, when I was thinking about starting to do a sock a day, my eye fell upon a pile of leftover Debbie Bliss yarn that I stashed on my desk for use as Fetching Fingerless Gloves. It was missing for a while and when it turned up I was excited to work on the Fetching; but I had other things to knit.

After working on my secret project last week and doing a lot of sample swatches for my rock n’ roll messenger bag, I thought I deserved a break. The gloves looked quick. The first one went really really well, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. I didn’t have quite enough yarn left over to finish the second glove. I got all the way to the thumb opening - about 3/4 of the way there and ran out of yarn. Now, I was pretty sure this color was discontinued but that had been reissued under a new name. They didn’t have it at my local store, so I went to Plan B. Now I thought the fit was a little loose, so my plan was to frog both gloves and remove one cable repeat. Of course, somehow I misplaced the first glove.

I went to the Knitter’s Palette and bought some new yarn. I made these. They are warm and very very soft.
Fetching Fingerless Gloves

US Size 6
Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran (holding Karabella)
Color # 330013
Time to Make: ~ 7 hours

They will be a Christmas present for one of my relatives. The pink yarn will be for another pair for a sixteen year old cousin of mine. No worries, none of them are reading my blog as far as I know.

Today’s Yarn Erotica

This is yarn from Shelridge Farms in Ontario, Canada. Cookie dyed it with some friends and I couldn’t help but admire it. It’s a little more green than blue, but I absolutely love it.

This next picture is ysexy for a whole different reason. It was free. My knitting group had a swap on Tuesday night and I walked away with three skeins of Dalegarn thanks to June!
