I picked up several goodies for Christmas. My Dad gave me Cables Untangled and a gift certificate to the Knitter’s Palette. And my cousins gave me Victorian Lace Today. I’m looking forward to using both of them.
I mentioned previously that my husband gave me some Vesper for Christmas. I was allowed to pick it out but not see it until Christmas. I think I’ll have to use it in my new wall art project for Yarn Diet 2007.
Of course, I did some knitting shopping. My mom wrote me a check this year, so I didn’t get any yarn. I usually get yarn in the years where I see her BEFORE Christmas, which I forgot. Anyway, we headed off to Black Sheep Knitting, but they were closed the day after Christmas. Instead we went to Woolcott and Co. in Harvard Square. And discovered…
…a massive sale! I got some goodies for my Knit Mitt Swap Kit pal and some circular Addi Turbos and a pair of circular Crystal Palace Bamboo needles at 1/2 off! I also bought a lovely skein of Noro. Unfortunately, my bags were so full that my father had to mail some things to me and I haven’t got the skeins here to photograph. I think we were a bit late to the party as I spotted the loot the lady in front of me in line purchased. No matter, I did well enough with what I got. My Mom also bought some of the discounted Crystal Palace Bamboo circulars.

In going to Philadelphia, I went to Loop. (Check out the related stash activity.) My first year college roommate, Liz was staying with us (at my inlaws home) for New Years. She doesn’t knit, but she really wanted one of the hats they had on display.
My husband and other friends completed my entourage. They hung around outside the shop while I looked around at the beautiful yarns. I ended up purchasing some more of the Lorna’s Laces for a new hat for my mother-in-law. The funniest moment was when I was asking my husband and Anam (that’s the guy on the left in this picture) what colorway to get. I was inside the shop holding up different skeins to the window and they gave me thumbs up or thumbs down on what they thought she’d like. She was quite pleased with what they picked out, as was I. I’ll show you when the hat is done, but I’m messing around with a new variation on my one skein wonder hat. The gentleman on the right is Noah, another good friend.

Lots of great stuff, and looks like lots of fun, too! (A LYS in Harvard Square? I had no idea…)
