In blankets, lizard ridge, socks on June 5, 2007 at 3:02 pm

Hey, I did it. I sewed and sewed until I could sew no more. I did it very very late at night when it was cold enough to sit around working on a wool blanket. Who am I kidding. I’m writing this at 2:37 AM but I can’t take any pictures until later the morning, so I won’t post this until the real AM. Now someone just has to teach me how to do the crochet part. I think I know what to do. Hmm. I’m going to use the green Karen sent me, so that will be great.

The blanket will be 4×4 instead of 4×6, but it still should be big enough for a child’s bed. I hope it will keep some child very warm next year in Afghanistan. Next fall though I think I will collect something to send that is a little more manageable like hats. (It will be whatever it is they are looking to get around that time of year.)

I think I might want to knit my own Lizard Ridge. Hmm, I’ve got two skeins of Noro Kureyon and no knitting money until November. Also, I think one of those skeins may go into my multi-directional kureyon scarf. ONh well. I’ll just dream of Kureyon in the mean time.

When I finish this thing up, I will post all the vital stats I have including the names/blogs of all the donors (who rock btw) and all the numbers of the Noro Kureyon used that I know.

  1. wow, it’s beautiful! i’ve been salivating over that pattern since my first day as a knitter (and have boatloads of single kureyon skeins to prove it) but just haven’t had the time (read: patience) to figure out the short rows. i’m still sort of new, and tried it once to hilarious effect. great job! it really is a beautiful pattern, and something truly special and beautiful to make a child feel happy and warm.

  2. It’s gorgeous with all of those colors!

  3. It looks great already : )

  4. What a gorgeous blanket and generous gift!

When you do your own Lizard Ridge, would you do different colors or all the same???

There will be a package arriving at your doorstep very soon!

    Love,
